ArcelorMittal invites the people of Fermont to celebrate the 50th anniversary
Fermont, September 12, 2024 – ArcelorMittal Mining Canada (“ArcelorMittal”) is proud to announce a $100,000 donation to Ville de Fermont in support of celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the city’s founding. This contribution will make it possible to attract larger audiences to the various shows and to expand the existing program.
What’s more, to highlight the fact that the land on which Fermont and the Mont-Wright mining complex lies is located within Nitassinan aboriginal territory, ArcelorMittal will also be offering the people of Fermont a free performance by Innu group Ninan at a special event to be held by the city on October 11.
“This is a unique moment in the history of this region, to which we all feel a deep connection,” said Mapi Mobwano, president and CEO of ArcelorMittal Mining Canada. “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Ville de Fermont to take these celebrations to the next level. With this gesture, we also wanted to demonstrate our steadfast commitment to the vitality of the Fermont community by providing it with unforgettable festivities.”
“ArcelorMittal’s substantial contribution will help make our 50th anniversary a very special occasion,” added Martin St-Laurent, mayor of Fermont. “We’re grateful for their generosity and for their dedication to our community. We’re thrilled to be teaming up with them to give everyone in the region a celebration to remember.”
