(\u201cArcelorMittal\u201d) is proud to announce that it won the Mercure award in the \u201cOrdre des CPA du Qu\u00e9bec \u2013 Business Strategy\u201d category at the Mercuriades competition organised by the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration des Chambres de commerce du\u00a0Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur market is going through a profound transformation, and we are delighted that a competition as prestigious as the Mercuriades recognizes the quality of the strategy that we developed to stand out in this business context. Among other initiatives, it includes the conversion of the process of its <span class=\"nowrap-nom\">Port-Cartier<\/span> pellet plant to steer all production to direct reduction pellets, an essential product to operate the electric arc furnaces to which a growing number of steel mills are converting with the aim of reducing their greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur business strategy will allow us to become a key player in the decarbonization of the steel industry. Above all, we will ensure our <span class=\"nowrap-nom\">Port-Cartier<\/span> plant is established as an international reference,\u201d Mr. Mobwano\u00a0added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We should remember that in 2022, the <span class=\"nowrap-nom\">Port-Cartier<\/span> pellet plant became the first in the world to substitute pyrolytic oil for heavy fuel oil on a continuous basis. By using this biofuel, produced locally by Bio\u00c9nergie AE <span class=\"nowrap-nom\">C\u00f4te-Nord<\/span> Canada, ArcelorMittal not only reduces its emissions but builds a true regional energy ecosystem by uniting the two great resources of the <span class=\"nowrap-nom\">C\u00f4te-Nord<\/span> region, iron and\u00a0forest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mercuriades is recognized as the most prestigious awards competition in the Qu\u00e9bec business community. Every year, it celebrates the innovation, ambition, entrepreneurship and performance of Qu\u00e9bec companies, both SMEs and large companies.
