Photo credit: Kathleen Dub\u00e9 Photography<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fermont, April 7, 2026<\/strong> \u2013 ArcelorMittal Mines and Infrastructure Canada (\u201cArcelorMittal\u201d) and Fermont Fire Department announced that they have entered into a mutual aid agreement aimed at increasing fire protection and supporting emergency response operations across the territory of\u00a0Fermont.<br><br>This agreement allows Fermont Fire Department to call on members of ArcelorMittal\u2019s brigade, as needed, who are trained to respond in emergency situations and use the company\u2019s specialized equipment. The intervention procedures established between the two organizations aim to ensure effective coordination, smooth communication and safe operations.<br><br>This collaboration has already been ongoing in practice for several years and this agreement formalizes its mechanisms. Moreover, this collaboration has been implemented on several occasions, including during wildfire response operations, which provided an opportunity to demonstrate the natural complementarity and effectiveness of the resources\u00a0deployed.<br><br>Through this initiative, the two parties pool their expertise and resources to support a more robust response to incidents requiring rapid intervention, including fires and other types of emergency situations. This agreement reflects a shared objective to improve safety in the territory of Fermont through structured mutual\u00a0aid.<br><br>\u201cThis partnership is a testament to our objective to remain strongly anchored in the Fermont community. This is an excellent example of collaboration that directly benefits our community\u201d, said Patrick Lacerte, Mayor of\u00a0Fermont.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About ArcelorMittal Infrastructure Canada<\/strong> <strong>and ArcelorMittal Mining\u00a0Canada<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Subsidiaries of ArcelorMittal, a leading steel company and one of the five biggest iron ore producers in the world, ArcelorMittal Infrastructure Canada (\u201cAMIC\u201d) and ArcelorMittal Mining Canada G.P. (\u201cAMMC\u201d) are two complementary companies operating in Quebec\u2019s <span class=\"nowrap-nom\">North\u00a0Shore<\/span> region. AMIC transports concentrate between <span class=\"nowrap-nom\">Mont-Wright<\/span> and <span class=\"nowrap-nom\">Port-Cartier<\/span> and operates a seaport at <span class=\"nowrap-nom\">Port-Cartier<\/span>, allowing AMMC products to be transported and shipped to four continents. AMMC produces concentrate and iron oxide pellets for the steel market.
