
Port-Cartier, March 26, 2025 – The mayor of Port-Cartier, Alain Thibault, and the president and CEO of ArcelorMittal Mining Canada (“ArcelorMittal”), Mapi Mobwano, have confirmed an agreement regarding the assessment roll of ArcelorMittal’s Port-Cartier facilities for 2022–2024 and 2025–2027.
ArcelorMittal and the City of Port-Cartier have reached an agreement on the 2022–2024 assessment roll and have already settled matters for the 2025–2027 assessment roll. Both parties are happy to put these issues behind them and look to the future.
“We’ve been in Port-Cartier for over 60 years and will continue to invest in the community to keep it thriving. We have several major strategic projects, including the flotation project at our pellet plant, which will enable Port-Cartier to maintain its position as a global leader in the production of high-purity iron for years to come. We have every reason to be proud,” said Mapi Mobwano.
