Uashat, September 17, 2026 – ArcelorMittal Mining Canada (“ArcelorMittal”) and Innu Takuaikan Uashat mak Mani-utenam (“ITUM”) are pleased to announce that they have entered into a major partnership agreement to contribute to the long-term community, cultural and economic development of Uashat mak Mani-utenam.
The agreement, signed today by Mapi Mobwano, President and CEO of ArcelorMittal Mining Canada, and Innu Utshimau Jonathan Shetush, Chief of ITUM, strengthens the relationship between the company and the community and reflects their shared commitment to continuing to build a lasting partnership based on trust, respect and collaboration.

This agreement is based first and foremost on a relationship that we want to build for the long term, with trust and respect. In particular, the agreement will support strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening cultural vitality, promoting entrepreneurship and training, and improving community infrastructure for the benefit of community members. The two partners also hope to foster dialogue and collaboration to ensure that the economic development of the North Shore generates lasting benefits for First Nations and communities in the region.
This agreement reflects ArcelorMittal’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with ITUM and ensuring that its presence on the North Shore contributes to the development of the communities with which it shares the region.
